Context

Digital credentials growing in Europe

The European digital credentials market so far has been characterised by its fragmentation. Many actors offer different digital credentials solutions with no conversion toward standardisation. This fragmentation not only makes the digital credentials market harder to manage, it also hinders the wider implementation of digital credentialisation by making them less interoperable than their paper-based equivalents.

In an effort to encourage wider use of the digitally-signed credentials in the EU, the European Commission developed the Europass Digital Credentials Infrastructure (EDCI), a set of standards, services, and software, which enable learners, employers, education and training providers to issue, store, share and verify the authenticity and the validity of legal digital credentials in Europe, in order to promote standardisation, interoperability and to make sure that any digital credential has legal validity across all 27 member states in the European digital credentials market.

Programme

The Europass Team of DG EMPL is organising a live webinar to present the Interoperability Portal of the Europass Digital Credential Infrastructure(EDCI). The webinar will :

• present the key technical features of EDCI and the different scenarios to integrate them into existing digital ecosystems.
• highlight some of characteristics of the Europass Learning Model, a key component of EDCI,
• present the Early Adopters' Programme, designed to support organisations in integrating EDCs to their digital ecosystems.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.

Speakers

The webinar will be held with various speakers from the European Commission and the Europass Team.

Who Should Attend?

The webinar is open to organisations interested in issuing, storing or receiving digitally-signed credentials. This includes software companies designing student information systems, learning management systems, e-portfolios or human resource management systems.
